Software Design UK is the creator of
great web sites and bespoke software.
We have developed a number of web enhancement tools, "add-ons", for new or existing
web site to make the site work more effectively.
Included within our products is a suite of tools that add Interactivity
to a web site. This is the ability of a site to handle automatically
information that visitors fill in on your site.
Form facilities (getting visitors to submit
information)
Form facilities are facilities on your web site for
visitors to fill in forms you create (or instruct us to create). The visitor
fills in the form and clicks a "Post" button that sends the form by email to
you, with a confirmation sent by email to them. All entries are either logged
in a text file for import to most spreadsheets and databases, or filed directly
in a database on the internet which can be reviewed and/or updated by you at
any time.
The forms integrate fully with your own web site, in all
respects.
The facilities can be used for requirements as diverse as
Registration (such as "please add us to your membership list") to Quotes
("please send us a quote based on the submitted information") to Courses
("please book this number of people with these names on this course"). There is
virtually no limit to the uses to which the interactive facilities can be put.
The tools can be used in conjunction with tools that provide automated feedback
to visitors based on their submissions.

Automated Email confirmations We have also developed a number of
tools to automate email feedback to visitors based on their submissions.
The generic (and therefore low cost) tools are limited to email responses and
are limited in scope.
Tailored scripts can be written to handle more
sophisticated responses. Your requirements should be discussed to establish the
sort of costs and alternatives that are available.

Tracking visitors and site effectiveness
Keeping track of how many visitors you have, how they came to your site and what pages they
look at is perhaps the most important way to identify the effectiveness of your web site.
We have tools that track every visitor, every page visited and every page the visitor
came from and report the summary to you monthly by email. We are able to provide the report
at any more frequent interval at any time, on request.

Members-only
facilities Many organisations want the facility to have parts of their
website open only to invited guests, such as paying subscribers or employees.
All our web sites are set up with the facility to set up as many or as few
separate members-only areas as you want to set up.

Secure server
Our server is a secure server. This means that you can use the
secure section to encrypt automatically all data transferred from visitors to
the web site. Visitors need no special software.
Security certificates
specific to your own organisation can easily and inexpensively be bought, for
extra professionalism.
We take care of all the configuration needed to
make the secure server "live".

Web-located (and automated) databases
We have created
standard (and therefore low cost) facilities for the creation and automatic
updating of databases on the internet. These allow automated collection of
submitted information. The databases update themselves automatically to allow
easy addition of information that you want collated.
All databases are
accessible to you, via password control, over the internet. This allows you to
have as much or as little access as you want, whenever you want. The standard
facilities also allow you to update all records. The value is the ability to
get to get reports of certain people or organisations based on criteria you
require. If your criteria change, or if the individual changes, you can easily
update the relevant record.
All databases are fully searchable in almost any combination you desire. This
adds huge power to an already very powerful tool.
All database information can be downloaded and
integrated within your own spreadsheets, word-processor, database or emailing
lists.

Web-based
(and automated) mailing and emailing Building on the functionality of web-based
databases is the web-based mailing and emailing. The most significant benefit of web-based
mailing/emailing is ease of use.
The facilities use a standard automated database
as described above, and add the facility to send out correspondence to selected (or
all) groups on your list(s). Clicking a button is all it takes to choose whether
to send the correspondence by email or by physical mail. The email option sends
the emails immediately, with a copy being emailed directly to you. The mailing
option generates a word-processed document in a format that almost all word processors
can handle, which is "sent back" to your browser for saving on disk or opening. You
can then modify and/or print out the letters in the conventional way.
You can easily add your own data to the database,
if desired.
The facility allows you to type in some text, add any
attachments you require and to mail/email the result to the selected groups in the
list. If you have categorised registrants, for example, you can send targetted
messages to relevant individuals. All mail/emails sent are saved
automatically, allowing you to search your correspondence at a later date or
to re-use previously sent mail. You even have a "template" facility to allow
you to design standard letters or emails in which to merge your
letter/email text and information on database for the person you are writing to.
Because the mail/email lists are web-based, you do not need to
clutter up your own computer (or brain) trying to handle complicated
mail-drops/mass-emailing.
